Today, I woke up with a little congestion and a runny nose that has just gotten worse throughout the day. Any other year, I would say it’s a cold and go on with my life (and honestly, I’m 90% sure it’s a cold this year, too). But since this is 2020, I scheduled a drive-through COVID test for myself tomorrow, which means I’ll be spending the weekend in self-quarantine while I wait for my test results, which will hopefully come on Sunday or Monday.
That means my weekend plans will (obviously) be changing. I had planned to do quite a bit of hiking this weekend, but now I’ll just be curled up on the couch at home with my pup reading, which doesn’t necessarily sound like a BAD weekend to me.
I think I’m also going to get serious about planning my 2021 goals this weekend. I’ve been brainstorming things I want to do in 2021 for a few weeks, but my list right now is far longer than is realistic to get done in one year when I’ll be doing clinical rotations for most of that year. So this weekend, I think I am going to work on paring down that list to what I actually want to accomplish, and then I can save the rest for 2022 or beyond.
I am also going to work on studying for Step this weekend with my newfound time. I’ve spent the past few weeks studying ahead for the class I’m currently in, which means I have a pretty significant amount of time in the next couple of weeks to review concepts from last year that will be covered on my upcoming board exam.
Hopefully it will be a productive weekend with a little relaxation thrown in there, too. Fingers crossed that my COVID test is negative so I don’t have to spend Thanksgiving alone, but if it is, then I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
