I set four goals for November and some of them were so, so vague, so I’m sure anyone into the SMART goals would have some strong words for me. That being said, I accomplished some of them and did not accomplish others, but that is okay. I will try to do better with my December goals, though.
What I accomplished: I read more, hiked more, and took more bubble baths. I read 8 books in November, which is right at my general two-books-a-week goal. I also hiked three or four times, so that was slightly below my once-a-week goal, but I accomplished the spirit of the goal, which was getting outdoors more often! I also took a couple of relaxing bubble baths. I had hoped to take more than a couple, but I’ll take the small victories when I can.
What I didn’t accomplish: I did not do well on my five-days-a-week at the gym goal. I was at the gym 3-4 days a week, which is just not enough to make me feel accomplished. I know it’s better than nothing, but I really feel better when I am at the gym (I do count barre classes as going to the gym) at least five days a week, but I really actually prefer to go 6 or 7 days a week.
I also got some things done that were not on my goals list. I submitted two abstracts for presentation at a conference, I applied for a fellowship that I am really excited about, I attended two conferences virtually, and I began reviewing biochemistry and finished reviewing microbiology for Step.
In all, I am content with what I accomplished in November. I hope December will be a little more productive, but if it’s another month like November, then I’ll be okay with that, too.
