Like much of the United States right now, my part of the country is currently receiving winter weather like we rarely receive. It’s been below freezing for well over a week, and after getting about half an inch of freezing rain last week, we have gotten about 7 inches of snow this week with more coming down as I type. I am very averse to driving in the snow, so unless I have somewhere I need to be (which, fortunately, I don’t!), I am not very eager to get out in this wintry weather, so I have been spending more time at home than I have in a very long time.
I am fortunate that I really love my home and that my school is 100% online, and that I can work from home, too. I am also fortunate that I can do most of my hobbies from home, too, like reading and knitting. I have also been watching some Modern Family, which has been hilarious so far and has been helping to buoy my mood.
I do miss getting out to exercise and to walk my pup, though. We had been in a good routine of walking a route we really like that is about 2.5 miles and takes about an hour to walk 5 days a week, and I had been in a great schedule of going to the gym or barre class 6 days a week. Last week and this week are somewhat nice breaks from both of those, but I am definitely missing the exercise that both of those activities bring. Our weather is supposed to be really good next week, so I should be able to get back into my walking and exercising groove, and I am trying to remind myself that in the grand scheme of things, a couple weeks of a very sedentary lifestyle won’t hurt me too much!
